Lois Iemolini Elliott

1927-2014 Lois Iemolini Elliott passed away Wednesday morning, at the age of 86. She was born on June 6th, 1927, in Great Barrington, to Louis A. Iemolini and Millie Broderick Iemolini. Lois was a life long resident of the Berkshires, graduating from the former Searles High School in Great Barrington, and St Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield. Upon her graduation in 1948, she began working at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, where she rose to the the rank of nursing supervisor, a position in which she served until her retirement in 1997. On December 30th, 1950, she married Jack Elliott, at St. Peter's Parish in Great Barrington. They built a home and raised two sons together, and remained constant companions until Jack's passing in 2009. In addition to being a loving wife, nurse, and mother, Lois spent her life actively engaging in her community. She was a member of St Peter's Parish, the Thursday Morning Club and the Great Barrington Historical Society, and spent her down time knitting hats and booties for the generations of newborn babies that came through the Fairview nursery. Lois is survived by her sons and daughters in law; Peter and Elizabeth Elliott of Great Barrington, and Mark and Sandra Elliott of Venice, Fl. She was also a beloved grandmother to Benjamin, Melinda, and Sean Elliott, and his wife, Laura. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services and burial for Lois Iemolini Elliot who died April 16, will be announced at a later date. Family will receive friends at calling hours Friday April 18 from 2-4 PM at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. Expressions of sympathy in Lois' memory may be made to the Thursday Morning Club Scholarship in care of the funeral home at 33 South Street, Great Barrington, MA. 01230.
