Joseph P. Hayes

1921 - 2014 MILL RIVER Joseph P. Hayes, 92, of 373 Hayes Hill Road, Mill River, passed away Monday, April 21, at his beloved farm. Joe was born May 1, 1921, the son of Patrick and Margaret Hayes. Joe lived his entire life at the farm. After graduating from New Marlboro High School, he owned and operated a successful dairy business there. Quiet and soft spoken, he loved his animals and the land. Joe is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Gretchen Hayes of Sheffield; two nieces, Karen Hayes of Sheffield, and Kathy Clooney of Boca Raton, Fla., and a nephew, Robert Semier of Ocala, Fla. Special mention is made of George and Laura Davis of Mill River and John and Jean Rimas of Seabrook, N.H., beloved friends, who cared lovingly for Joe throughout his later years. FUNERAL NOTICE: Friends are invited to be with family, to celebrate his life, at a graveside service at Mill River Cemetery Wednesday, April 30 at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Bruce N. Teague of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Sheffield, Mass., officiating. In lieu of flowers, if desired, a remembrance in his name may be made to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, P.O.
