Roger Lavigne

He was born in North Adams, on Oct. 24, 1929, son of Arthur and Dora Brosseau Lavigne, and attended local schools. Roger was employed by the city of North Adams cemetery department for over 30 years, until his retirement. In his younger years, he worked in various cotton mills. Roger was a dedicated husband and true friend and was a hard-working, earnest employee for the city. He believed in honesty and loyalty and tried to show it each day of his life. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Roger will always be remembered by his family, friends, and community for his pride in maintaining his home. He was known to strike up a conversation with everyone and anyone and loved his daily breakfast trip to Linda's Cafe. Roger looked forward, every year, to spending time with Adele at their camp in Canada. He also enjoyed travelling to Maine and Lake George with his Godchildren, Michelle and Emma, and his special Sundays with his cousin, Bernie. Roger loved listening to the Red Sox on his 1967 kitchen radio and cheering on the Drury Band. His wife, Adele Grenier Lavigne died on March 26, 2003. Survivors include, nieces and nephews, and his good friends, Bert and Therese Lavoie, Michelle Waryjasz, and Emma Waryjasz. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Lavigne and his sister, Dorothy Cote.
