Muriel V. Granfield

1927 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Muriel V. Granfield, 86, of 29 Edward Avenue, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Mount Greylock Extended Care in Pittsfield. Born in Dalton on Dec. 24, 1927, the daughter of Francis and Clarissa Curtis Cary, she was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1945 graduate of the former Dalton High School. Mrs. Granfield was a homemaker. She had, at one time, worked for General Electric Company, as well as First Agricultural National Bank for five years, and at the former Children's Boutique on Elm Street, in Pittsfield. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed gardening and shopping, especially antique shopping, with her late husband. Her husband, John J. Granfield, whom she married May 26, 1951, in St. Charles Church, died Sep. 11, 1995. Mrs. Granfield is survived by two daughters, Ann F. Osimo and her husband, Clifford, of Pittsfield, and Kathleen M. Banks and her husband, Todd, of Salem, N.Y.; two sons, Michael D. Granfield and his wife, Andrea, of Pittsfield, and Richard J. Granfield and his wife, Christine, of Framingham, Mass.; a sister, Joan Palmer of Lee; seven grandchildren, Allison Clairmont, Nicole Clairmont, Gregory Osimo, Elizabeth Osimo, Christine Osimo, Teddy Granfield, and Mike Granfield, as well as nieces and nephews, William Fitzgerald, Mary Fitzgerald, Ray Palmer, Kevin Palmer, Frederick Cary, James Cary, William Cary, and Dennis Cary. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joan Granfield, who died July 31, 1952, and by a brother, Frederick Cary. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Muriel V. Granfield will be held Monday, May 19, at 10:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 191 Elm Street, Pittsfield, celebrated by the Rev. Peter M. Naranjo, II., Parochial Vicar. Burial will follow inSt. Mary Cemetery in Lee Mass. Calling hours will be today, Sunday, from 5 to 7 p.m, at DERY FUNERAL HOME [54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield]. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church in care of the funeral fome, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. [MA 01201].
