John R. Doyle
1930-2014 CHESHIRE Mr. John R. Doyle, 83, of 58 Ingalls Rd., Cheshire, passed away on May 25, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on December 9, 1930 the son of Richard M. and Margorie Sigsworth Doyle he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Doyle was an Air Force Veteran, serving during Korea. He retired from the Air Force with 21 years of service. After retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Doyle went to work for the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk. He retired from the Post Office with 20 years of service. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. John was an avid Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed bowling and belonged to several leagues at Ken's Bowl. He was a member of the Dalton American Legion and the Sampson Volunteer Club. He also enjoyed painting and drawing. His favorite time was that spent with his family and would often draw funny cartoons for his grandchildren. He leaves his wife, the former Helen Higgins, who he married on May 30, 1958 at St. Agnes Church in Dalton. He is also survived by his children, three daughters, Theresa Batanglo and her husband, Steve, of Dalton; Helen Potts and her husband, Cory, of Lenox and Kerrianne Doyle of Sprakers, N.Y; three sons, Patrick Doyle and his wife, Rose, of Pittsfield, John Doyle and Stephen Doyle both of Cheshire; two brothers, David Doyle and his wife, Elaine, of Pittsfield and Richard Doyle of Connecticut; a sister, Ruth Jones and her husband, William, of Pittsfield; 18 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Mark Doyle, and a daughter, Eileen Foley. He was also predeceased by his siblings, James Doyle, Catherine Bouchard, Mary Major, Rita Squires, Larry Doyle, Margaret Doyle and Lillian Doyle. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. John R. Doyle will be Friday, May 30, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, celebrated by Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
