Bernard A. Clairmont

1950-2014 CHESHIRE Bernard A. Clairmont, 63, of 20 Pleasantview Dr., died suddenly at home on Friday, June 6 after a short illness. Born in Adams on August 18, 1950, son of the late Alfred Clairmont and Margaret Whitmore Rolland, he attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1968. He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served with the Army Security Agency in Phu Bai, Vietnam. After returning home he attended the former North Adams State College and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics. He later received his Master's Degree in Physics from the University of New Hampshire. He became a teacher of Physics at North Adams State College in 1979 where he met his wife, Lynn. He was employed at the High Voltage Laboratory in Lenox (EPRI) for the past 29 years as a Physicist. Bernie most enjoyed his life with his wife and his children; summers in Maine, weekends away with his wife and friends, snowmobiling, working in his garden, "pitch" with the neighbors, fishing for trout, playing poker with the "Knights" and sharing his love of science. He was a former Cheshire Little League coach and an active member of the IEEE. He was a very devoted husband, father and son. Besides his mother of Cheshire he is survived by the love of his life, the former Lynn Latraverse, whom he married on July 12, 1986, and two beloved sons, Joshua Stephen and Justin Bernard Clairmont. He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen A. Clairmont.
