James R. Kavey

1956-2014 PITTSFIELD James R. Kavey, 58, of Pittsfield died unexpectedly on Friday, June 13 at his home. Born January 30, 1956 in Pittsfield to Raymond B. Kavey and the late Marion J. Martin Kavey, he was a lifelong resident. He was a 1974 graduate of St. Joseph High School. He was employed as a security guard at Berkshire Health Systems. Previously he had been employed as a security guard at G.E. and General Dynamics. He was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge #272. He was a loving father, adored Papa, and caring friend of many. He is survived by his father, Raymond B. Kavey; his daughters, Alisha J. Kavey and her partner, Rachel R. Zink, and Katherine L. Kavey Davis and her husband, Randy; his wife and friend, Linda M. Kavey; his grandsons, Caiden and Chase Davis, all of Pittsfield; his brothers, Raymond B. Kavey Jr. of Waco, Texas, Thomas W. Kavey of Old Town, Fla., William M. Kavey of Sun Prairie, Wisc., and Peter F. Kavey of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Marion J. Kavey. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church, officiating. Dwyer Funeral Home, with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. A reception will follow at the Elks until 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alisha Kavey to establish a trust fund for his grandchildren.
