Frances M. "Took" Snow

1913 - 2014 BECKET Frances M. "Took" Snow, 100, of 3255 Main Street, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at her home. Born in East Chatham, N.Y., on Aug. 2, 1913, the daughter of George R. and Margaret Coxon Sweet, she was educated in Becket schools. Mrs. Snow was primarily a homemaker. She had worked for seven years as a basket weaver and finisher at the former J.C. Blue Baskets Shop in Becket. She took care of elderly people in her home. She had also worked for General Electric Company at one time. Mrs. Snow attended Becket Federated Church. She enjoyed poetry. Her husband, Frederick Eugene Snow, whom she married July 4, 1936, died in July 1979. Mrs. Snow is survived by three nephews, Robert C. (and Doreen) Sweet, Sr. with whom she lived; Daniel G. Sweet, Jr., of Pittsfield, and George (and Annie) Sweet of Annadale, N.J.; four nieces, Margaret (and Victor) Curtis of Jacksonville, Fla., Juanita (and Donald) Pendergast of North Port, Maine, Roberta (and John) Whitely of Ticonderoga, N.Y., and Gloria Gilman of Hudson Falls, N.Y., and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel G. Sweet and Robert C. Sweet. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts for their care of Frances. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Frances M. "Took" Snow will be held Friday, July 18, at 1 p.m. at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton with the Rev. Dennis C. Castella, Chaplain of Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts, officiating. Burial will follow in North Becket Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
