Helen Kogut Gigliotti

1925 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Helen (Jakacky) Kogut Gigliotti, 89, of Berkshire Town Apts., 176 Columbus Ave., died died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Berkshire Medical Center. She was born in Pittsfield on July 2, 1925, a daughter of Frank S. Jakacky Sr. and Rose (Ptak) Jakacky. She attended Pittsfield schools. She was employed by the former Elmvale Worsted Co. for several years and was last employed by the former Shaeffer-Eaton Paper Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and presently a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She was a volunteer at the Brown Bag program at the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center, and enjoyed puzzles, going to tag sales, gardening, dancing, and spending time with her family. Her husband, Anthony J. Gigliotti Sr., died on June 11, 2003 and they were married on July 16, 1978. Survivors include one son, Casimer "Kaz" Kogut and his wife, Judith, of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two daughters, Rose Davis MacDonald and her husband, Wayne "Mac" of Pittsfield and Helen T. McRory and her husband, James Sr. of Pittsfield. Also, one step-son, Russell J. Gigliotti and his wife, Nancy of Dalton,;, one brother, John Jakacky and his wife, Ada of East Hartford, Conn.; five grandchildren, Kellie DeGeorge and her husband Adam, Jason Davis and his wife Jennifer, James S. McRory Jr., Kimberly Kogut, and Scott Kogut; one great-granddaughter, Ashlee Rose Davis, and her dear friend, Fran Salvi of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, William and Anthony J. Jakacky and by two sisters, Laura Butterworth and infant sister, Sophie Jakacky. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Peter M. Naranjo II, Parochial Vicar officiating. Calling hours at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
