Madeline "Nanny" (Yon) Oslund Obituary
Mrs. Madeline L. "Nanny" Yon Oslund, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center with her loving family at her side.
Born in Pittsfield, Jan. 13, 1928, the daughter of the late Harold and Kathryn Leonard Yon she attended the local schools.
Mrs. Oslund was primarily a caregiver and homemaker. In her early years she helped raise her younger siblings. She later married and raised two children of her own. When they were older, she became a foster mother to six more infants. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She leaves her daughter, Patricia Oslund Fois, and her husband, Frank, of Wilbraham; her sister, Kathleen Yon, her two brothers, Harold Yon and Leonard Yon, and his husband, Daniel Pytko, all of Pittsfield; her three grandchildren, Jennifer Cahill, of Marina del Ray, Calif., James Oslund of Spokane, Wash., and Anthony Oslund, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, five great-grandchildren, her extended family, Michael, Mariel, Jackson, Ellen, and Joseph Fois, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, David Oslund, who died Nov. 14, 2003, and a brother, Charles J. "Red" Yon, who died Apr. 11, 2008.
She and her husband, the late Edward "Ted" Oslund were married Aug. 16, 1947, in the former St. Mary of the Morning Star Church. He died on Apr. 15, 1987.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for will be held on Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, with the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
