Richard Fillio Obituary

Richard Fillio 1945 - 2009 DALTON Richard James Fillio, 64, of 45 Crane Ave., died Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Berkshire Medical Center. He had previously resided in Houston, Texas for 20 years. Born in Pittsfield, June 30, 1945, son of George K. and Angelina Laframboise Fillio, he was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1963 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. Mr. Fillio was employed as a computer operator for Hydro Electric in Houston, Texas, from 1979 to 1987. He then went to work as a computer operator for The Houston Chronicle for many years from which he retired in 2004. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church where he passed the basket for the weekly mass collection. He enjoyed golf, and was a longtime Red Sox and Celtics fan Besides his parents of Dalton, Mr. Fillio leaves two brothers, Robert J. Fillio of Dalton, and Thomas C. Fillio, and his wife, Barbara, of Dalton; as well an uncle, John Fillio of Peru; four aunts, Helen Byrnes of Dalton, Winifred Downs of Dalton, Emily Laframboise of Pittsfield, and Mary Hogan of Pittsfield; and many cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Richard James Fillio, who died Wednesday, Aug. 26, will be Monday, Aug. 31, at 9:15 a.m., from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Agnes Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Dery-Foley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Fillio may be made to Berkshire Medical Center Cancer Research Fund in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
