William Kowalczyk

1963-2010 LENOX William J. Kowalczyk, 46, of 221 Pittsfield Rd. in Lenox, died at Baystate Medical Hospital in Springfield, Monday, May 24, 2010.

Born in Pittsfield, June 18, 1963, the son of William J. and Mary Houghtlin Kowalczyk, he was a 1981 graduate of Miss Halls School. He then graduated from Nasson College in Maine.

By trade he was a C.N.A., but he had worked in the retail field, carpentry, and for General Electric in the engineering dept.

He was involved with the Salvation Army, the Mason's, enjoyed target shooting, photography and RC planes.

Besides his parents, he also leaves his wife, Sherry J. Gerwaski Kowalczyk, whom he married Feb. 23, 1991; two brothers, Lawrence J. Kowalczyk and his wife, Mary, of Windsor, and Donald J. Kowalczyk of Pittsfield; one sister, Tina Kowalczyk and her husband, Peter Bruneau, of Pittsfield; a stepson, Chad Appleton of Lenox; his maternal grandmother, Helen Houghtlin of Pittsfield (widow of the late George); his paternal grandmother, Anna Antone of Windsor (widow of the late Lawrence); one grandson, Darrin Appleton, and many nieces and nephews

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Service for William J. Kowalczyk will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME celebrated by Captain Scott D. Peabody. Calling hours will on Friday from 4-7 p.m. There will be no burial.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations, contributions in memory of Mr. Kowalczyk may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Clinic in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
