Ronald Glenn Polidoro 1936-2010 PITTSFIELD Ronald Glenn Polidoro, 73, of 5 Donovan Street, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, November 24, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield, on November 6, 1936, a son of the late Paul W. and Sophia Casella Polidoro, he attended Pittsfield schools. A Korean War veteran, he enlisted with the United States Army on February 4, 1954, served nearly three years overseas, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class on July 1, 1959. Mr. Polidoro was a well-known barber for 45 years, and for the past 15 years, was part owner of Sam & Ron's Barbershop. He retired in May 2010. He was a communicant of St. Mark Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Father Contino Post 75 of the Italian American War Veterans. He was also a member of the Italian-American Club and UNICO. Mr. Polidoro is survived by his wife, the former Mary Foffo whom he married April 14, 1984. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Valerie Polidoro Lawson and her husband, Christopher, of Cheshire, Kimberly Polidoro Wasuk and her husband, Michael, of Dalton, and Melanie Polidoro-Huber of Lenox and her companion, Raymond Morton; stepsons, James Raymond and his wife, Frances, of Burlington, Connecticut, and Craig Raymond, and his wife, Nancy, of Hingham, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Ashley Wasuk, Brittany Wasuk-Heilbroun and her husband, Kyle, Levi Lawson, and Zachary and Sophia Huber; great granddaughter, Gianna Wasuk-Heilbroun; step grandchildren, Derek Raymond and his fiancée Shari Dillon, Keith Raymond and his fiancée Elizabeth Kravsow, Aaron Raymond and his fiancée Sara Melvin, Thomas Raymond, and Rebecca Raymond; as well as his brothers, Paul Polidoro and his wife, Frances, of Dalton, and Robert Polidoro and his wife, Bernadette, of Terryville, Connecticut; sister-in-law, Fannie Bonacquisti and her husband, John; sister-in-law, Olga Todd, and brother-in-law, Alex DiNicola. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Geraldine DiNicola. Ron's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Berkshire Medical Center for the wonderful, loving care Ron received, and a special thank you to Dr. Timothy Counihan, Dr. Joseph Pfeifer, and Vickie Simmons at Berkshire Medical Center. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Ronald Glenn Polidoro will be Saturday, November 27, at 10 a.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Ron's family invites everyone to the Italian American Club, 203 Newell Street, after the funeral. Calling hours will be Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m, at the Funeral Home. A UNICO memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Polidoro may be made to the Italian American Club Building Fund, 290 Newell Street, or to the in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
