Elizabeth J. Simmons 1935-2011 PITTSFIELD Elizabeth J. Simmons, 76, of Strong Ave., passed away Monday at Berkshire Medical Center following a short illness. Born January 5, 1935 in Pittsfield, the daughter of Guy R. and Ria C. Brundage Simmons, she was a 1952 graduate of Pittsfield High School, Elizabeth graduated from Berkshire Community College as a Registered Nurse. Elizabeth served as a Nun at Brightside in West Springfield, for 20 years, where she cared for 26 babies at a time, following her time there she worked at Hillcrest Hospital at a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1995 and most recently she worked at Craneville Place of Dalton part time for the past 10 years. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Elizabeth enjoyed collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, adored her pet birds and her vacations to Cape Cod. She leaves her brothers Robert R. Simmons of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., William W. Simmons of Dennisport, Mass., James E. Simmons of Pittsfield, John L. Simmons of Pittsfield; a sister Rita F. Kramp of New Port Beach, Calif.; 14 nieces and nephews, and 16 great-nieces and nephews, and her best friend Ann Russo. She was predeceased by a sister, Sandra K. Clark. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Elizabeth J. Simmons will be held Saturday, January 7 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with Rev. James Joyce, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Donations in her memory may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital, care of the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
