Moira Banks-Dobson SHEFFIELD Moira Banks-Dobson, 24, daughter of Edwin J. Dobson of Sheffield, Mass., and Anne B. Banks of Hillsdale, N.Y., died in a car accident on February 28. Dobson graduated magna cum laude from Hotchkiss in 2005, winning numerous awards for her academic and extra curricular pursuits. At Hotchkiss she participated in the cross country, track, sailing and soccer teams. She graduated from Yale University in May, 2011. At Yale, Dobson sang in a capella groups Something Extra and Tangled Up in Blue. She rowed for the Yale Varsity Women's Crew team after walking on as a freshman. She was a gifted singer, who began performing with her mother at age 6. Moira performed locally in the Berkshires and in Columbia County, N.Y. Moira was an accomplished writer and artist. She recently worked as a tutor in the Pittsfield City School District. Moira, a miraculous being, a generous and loving person, touched the lives of everyone she met. She is survived by her parents, her brother Benjamin Banks-Dobson, sisters Melany and Freya Dobson, sister-in-law Nalise Polyte Dobson, nephews Samuel and Edwin Dobson, aunts Elizabeth Dobson and Ellison Banks Findly, uncles Peter Dobson and William Ross Banks, her great aunts Robin Dobson, Reida Kimmel, and Neva Herrington, cousins Caroline and Ross Findly, and by her grandmothers Anne Johnson Banks of Hartford, Conn., and Linda deRussy of Wellfleet, Ma., and her great uncle J. Robert Banks of Oklahoma City. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held in her memory on Sunday, March 4 at 1 p.m. Dewey Hall in Sheffield. A memorial to honor Moira's life will be held on Sunday, March 11, her birthday, at 278 Mitchell Street, Hillsdale, NY.
