Irene Mallory 1920-2012 Irene Mallory R.N., of New Marlborough, Mass., died peacefully at her home on Monday April 9, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 1, 1920 in Torrington, Conn., daughter of Frank and Helen Boldyga Forfa. She was a 1938 graduate of the former Searles High School and in 1942 graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. She was a private duty nurse and also worked in Fairview Hospital for 30 years, she also worked for Dr. Namiot. Irene married George Mallory on October 20, 1942 in All Saints Church; he predeceased her on February 13, 1999. Irene was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church. She was a member of the St. Luke's Alumni Association, a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, reading, and being a Yankee Fan. Irene leaves two sons, Thomas and his wife Carol of Great Barrington, and James and his wife Sherry of New Marlborough, five grandchildren, Michael, Kristen, Karen, and Catherine Mallory and Linda Waterman, four great grandchildren, Caleb, Elijah, Gabriel and Isaiah Waterman. Besides her husband George, Irene was also predeceased by a sister Marion Babinski. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Irene Mallory, who died April 9, will be held on Friday April 13, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Church, Sheffield, with the Reverend Bruce N. Teague, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday April 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, family requests that expressions of sympathy in Irene's memory may be made to St. Luke's Alumni Scholarship Fund or Our Lady of the Valley Church Building Fund, both in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street, Great Barrington, MA. 01230.
