1936-2012 DALTON Shirley Ann Cole, 75, of Pleasant Street, Dalton, died Friday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in the company of her loving family.
Born in Pittsfield November 21, 1936, the daughter of Alfred and Mildred Rabideau Thibodeau, she attended Notre Dame Grammar School and was a 1954 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
She was employed at Berkshire Life Insurance Company in Pittsfield for several years and later worked in the Customer Service department at Country Curtains, retiring in 1995.
A resident of Lenox Dale for over 50 years, Mrs. Cole was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Parish where she was also a CCD instructor. She also had been a member and past president of the Mc-Car-Nel American Legion Post #274 Ladies Auxiliary in Lenox Dale. She enjoyed learning to play the organ at Falcetti Music in Pittsfield and continued playing for many years. She loved to do needlepoint stitching and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Cole and her husband, John W. Cole, whom she married in Notre Dame Church May 10, 1958, had made their home in Dalton since 2008.
Besides her husband of Dalton, Mrs. Cole is survived by four sons; Alan J. Cole of Lenox Dale, Robert W. Cole of Becket, Roger J. Cole of Lee, and Michael T. Cole and his wife Shelly of Simsbury, CT; two daughters, Kathleen M. Townsend of Lenox, and Linda J. Carroll and husband Christopher, also of Lenox; five grandchildren including William and Joseph Carroll, and Paula Davis, Evan and Katharine Cole; and two sisters, Carol J. Gerhardt and Joan V. Drysgola, both of Pittsfield.
She was predeceased by her son in law Jesse Townsend and her sister Theresa Allen.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral of Mrs. Shirley Ann Cole of Dalton will be Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. from the Roche Funeral Home in Lenox followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lenox. Calling hours at Roche Funeral Home are Tuesday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the
