1943 - 2012 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Marianne Lillian (LaBombard) Meehan Smith, 69, of 85 Eagle St., North Adams, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at the home of her son, Jay, at 254 Notch Rd., North Adams.
She was born in North Adams on July 9, 1943, daughter of Wilfred and Marion (Walden) LaBombard. She graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in 1961. Marianne was last employed as a dispatcher at Norm's Limos until her retirement in 2004 due to ill health. Before that, she worked in the Pediatrics Dept of North Adams Regional Hospital.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Marianne was a devoted mother and grandmother and was affectionately known as "MeMe" to her grandchildren and extended family. She enjoyed reading and sports.
She was the widow of Richard Smith who died February 25, 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Gagnon, and her husband, Stephen of Valencia, Calif.; three sons, Bernard "Jay" Meehan, Jr., and his wife, Nancy, Jeffrey Meehan and Kevin Meehan and his fiancee, Monica Richard, all of North Adams; eight grandchildren, Allison, Connor, Jamie, Ryan, Nicholas, Lillian, Jesse, and Casey; one brother, Martin LaBombard of Pittsfield; one sister, Sally Lapine and her husband, Charles, and a sister-in-law, Margaret LaBombard, all of North Adams, and nieces and nephews.
Her brothers, Lawrence and Robert, are deceased.
Marianne's family would like to thank Dr. Steven Nelson and the staff of the Berkshire Renal Dialysis Center; the doctors and nurses at BMC; and Vicki Simon of the Wound Clinic at BMC for their loving care.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Marianne Smith will be Friday. Nov. 16, 2012, at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be later. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
