1947 - 2012 PITTSFIELD Karen Sue Ashbaugh-Piredda, 65, of Pittsfield, beloved wife of Robert R. Piredda, passed away peacefully at their home on Nov. 8th.

Karen was born in Lima, Ohio, on June 1, 1947, daughter of the late James E. and Melba C. (Young) Wolfe. She was a graduate of Wapakoneta Sr. High School in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and moved to the Berkshires in 1997 to watch her grandchildren grow up.

Having various employers in her lifetime, the most significant was her administrative employment at HospiceCare in the Berkshires, where she thoroughly enjoyed being part of a bigger cause.

Devoting her life to her family, Karen enjoyed her grandchildren and pets immensely. She was an avid reader and loved her flower gardens.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Robert, married Sept. 23, 2007, and her daughters, Anna M. (Watercutter) Maffett of Pittsfield, Rebecca L. (Watercutter) McFarland and Scott T. McFarland ("My favorite son-in-law; 'Cause he's my only son-in-law") of Great Barrington and Cathryn E. (Watercutter) Barnhill, also of Pittsfield. She leaves her precious, beloved grandchildren, Trevor and Adelaide McFarland and several furry grand-pets. In Ohio, remain two older sisters, Barbara Symonds and Kitty Boedicker, two dear sisters-in-law, Marlene Ashbaugh and Deborah McDermitt, and a brother-in-law, Todd (Karen) Ashbaugh and another sister-in-law, Antoinette Sicard, from Florida. Karen also leaves numerous treasured nieces and nephews along with the many, many lives she touched with her beautiful smile and laughter.

Karen was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Alan D. Ashbaugh.
