1919-2012 Constance Beneat, 93, of Cobble Lane, Sheffield, Mass., died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Geer Memorial Nursing Home in Canaan, Conn.

Born in Great Barrington, Mass. on August 22, 1919, the daughter of William T. and Elizabeth Dovey McDonnell, she was educated in local schools and graduated from Sheffield High School in 1937 and then from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 as an RN.

She was a nurse at Geer Memorial, Fairview Hospital, Sharon Hospital, and later as a Private Duty Nurse.

She married Alfred L. Beneat at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield, on December 5, 1942, and enjoyed 42 years of marriage before Mr. Beneat died on October 20, 1984.

She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Boardman and her husband Philip, of Sheffield, Mass., Anne Beattie and her husband Wesley, of Sheffield, and Marrilyn Brooks, of Cambridge, N.Y.; a sister, Elizabeth Cronk, of Ashley Falls, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Howie of Pittsfield, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Terri, Eric, Constance, Randall, Kristine, and Kenneth; seven great -grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, John and her sister, Mary.

A lifelong Communicant of our Lady of the Valley, she treasured her time with her girls and their children.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Our Lady of the Valley Church, Sheffield, Mass. at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Teague, Pastor, officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME.
