William LeRoy Pratt

1922-2012 NORTH ADAMS Mr. William LeRoy Pratt, 90 of 227 Franklin St. North Adams, died Monday December 31, 2012 at North Adams Commons.

He was born in North Adams, on July 4, 1922, son of Guy and Edith (Lamon) Pratt. He attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1941.

William was a veteran of World War II and served in Europe with the 28th Division of Patton's Third Army. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among his decorations during the campaigns of Normandy and Northern France.

Mr. Pratt worked at Sprague Electric Co. for 37 years until his retirement in 1984. He also enjoyed photography and worked as a wedding photographer for over 20 years. He also enjoyed furniture refinishing. Bill was a member of the Post #996 VFW in North Adams and DAV Chapter 15 of Pittsfield. He attended St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Alma L. Moore, whom he married on January 22, 1948. One son, Ronald Pratt, and his wife, Mary Ann of Adams. One daughter, Catherine Verrier, and her husband, Lionel of North Adams. Four grandchildren, Rebekah Verrier-Pytko of Whately, Mass.; Amy Leigh Burton of Melbourne, AUS; Jessica Cramer and William C. Pratt of North Adams and one Great Granddaughter, Olivia Pytko. He also leaves a daughter in law, Martha Pratt of North Adams.

His son, William R. Pratt died in 2010 and two brothers are deceased including Guy Pratt and Almon Pratt who died in infancy.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for William Pratt will be Saturday January 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the or the American Parkinson Disease Association in care of the funeral home.
