Walter W. Avery

1927 - 2013 ADAMS Walter W. Avery, 85, of 7 Mountain View Drive, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 5, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Belmont on Sept. 29, 1927, son of Abraham and Rachel (Wilkinson) Avery, and attended Belmont schools. He had lived in Adams since 1950.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving until his honorable discharge in 1950.

Mr. Avery last worked as an Electrical Supervisor for Pfizer, Inc. until retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Adams, where he served as a Deacon. He was a former member of the Town of Adams Finance Committee, and was also a member of the Adams Lions Club.

He enjoyed woodworking, photography, working on his computer, and could fix just about anything.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Anita "Orleta" A. Kirk, whom he married on May 21, 1949; two daughters, Lisa M. Avery and her husband, Robert Henriquez, of Pittsfield, and Laurie A. Avery of Yorktown, Va.; two sons, Mark W. Avery and Scott Kirk Avery, both of Adams; a sister, Evelyn Fallon of Billerica; four grandchildren, Jason Avery and his wife, Crista, of Cheshire, Bryant Avery of Adams, Sarah Dziegiel of Hampton, Va., and Joshua Dziegiel of Richmond, Va.; a great-grandson, Tyler Avery of Cheshire; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Clifford Avery; by two sisters, Eleanor Walton and Doris Clancy, and by a brother who died in infancy.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2: p.m. in the First Congregational Church, Adams. The Rev. Michael Mullany, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours.

The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 42 Park St. Adams, MA 01220.
