Tyrone R. Ward

1939-2013 Mr. Tyrone R. Ward, 74, of 42 Williamsburg Terrace, died Wednesday morning February 20, 2013 at Western Mass Hospital in Westfield, Mass., after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Born in Middletown, N.Y., on Jan. 30, 1939 he was the son of the late Robert and Lillian Clark Ward. He was a 1956 graduate of Middletown High School. He resided in Pittsfield Since 1956. He completed a drafting apprentice course at the General Electric Company.

Mr. Ward began his employment as a draftsman in the General Electric Ordnance Dept. in 1956. He retired as an Engineering Technician in 1994 after Thirty-Eight years of service.

He was a member of the Brodie Mt. Ski Patrol for many years. He volunteered as a First Aid Assistant at Tanglewood and he enjoyed all outdoor activities. Mr. Ward enjoyed music and polka dancing. He served in the US Coast Guard Reserves.

He was a communicant of the former St. Francis Church.

He leaves two sons, former Pittsfield Councilman Michael Ward and his wife Jennifer of Pittsfield; Daniel Ward and his wife LiSing of Boston; a daughter Margaret "Meg" Ward of Newtonville, Mass., two grandchildren Brendan and Fiona Ward of Pittsfield.

He leaves three sisters-in-law, Loretta Ward of Pine Island, N.Y., Barbara Ward of North Carolina and Rita Osborn and her husband Ralph of Pittsfield. He also leaves many nieces and a nephew. He was pre-deceased by two brothers Wayne Ward and Gary Ward.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Mr. Tyrone R. Ward died February 20, 2013.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North Street, Pittsfield. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the

Service at 11 a.m. Burial will be private in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
