Ralph J. Pettograsso

1959-2013 PITTSFIELD Ralph J. Pettograsso, 53, of 115 McArthur Street died Friday at home after fighting a long and courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme.

A lifelong resident of Pittsfield, he was born on September 19, 1959 in Pittsfield, the son of the late Ralph and Cecilia Micklas Pettograsso. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1977 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He then went on to earn his associates degree in Business Administration from Berkshire Community College in 1980. He also attended Post University in Waterbury, CT where he studied business administration.

At the time of his passing he was employed as a central office technician with Verizon where he has worked for the past fourteen years. Prior to that he had worked as a manager at the Price Chopper in Lenox for eighteen years. He had also worked at the former A&P Supermarket in his high school years.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local IBEW #232. He enjoyed sailing, baseball and motocross.

One of his greatest joys was riding motocross with his son Justin. He was a lifelong Bruce Springsteen fan. Spending time with his children and family was what he cherished most.

He leaves his wife and soul mate of thirty years, the former Michelle D. McDonough of Pittsfield whom he married on November 23, 1993. Two sons; Justin J. Pettograsso and Bryce R. Pettograsso both at home. His daughter; Marianne N. Pettograsso also at home. Four sisters; Susan Haas and her fiance Joseph Quetti of Falmouth, MA, Carol Pettograsso of San Diego, CA, Joanne Pettograsso and her fiance Brian Bartini of Lee, MA and Maria Hassett of Pittsfield. He also leaves his three brother-in-laws; Lucien L. Laurent and his wife Tammy of Pownal, VT, Lawrence F. Laurent and his wife Bonnie of Cherry Valley, MA and Allen W. Laurent and his wife Lauran of Pittsfield as well as many nieces and nephews.

Michelle and her entire family would like to express their deep gratitude and appreciation to Rev. Peter Gregory of St. Charles Church as well as Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich of St. Joseph Church for all the love and care shown to them during this difficult time.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Ralph J. Pettograsso, 53, of Pittsfield who died February 22, 2013 will be held Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Church concelebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor, and by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dery Funeral Home.

Memorial donations in memory of Ralph may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
