1911 - 2013 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Eleanor (Netherwood) VanVleck, 102, of 235 Kemp Ave., North Adams, died on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Williamstown Commons.
She was born in North Adams on January 2, 1911, a daughter of the late William and Stella (Delano) Netherwood. She attended schools in North Adams.
Mrs. VanVleck worked for many years as a penagrapher for the former Waverly Fabrics Co. and the former Arnold Print Works, both in Adams. She had also worked for the New England Telephone Co., North Adams.
She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of North Adams.
Her husband, Frederick M. VanVleck, whom she married on October 8, 1944, died on July 12, 1991.
She is survived by one daughter, Christina M. Baran and her husband Bernard of North Adams; two grandchildren, Christopher Baran and his wife Laura of North Adams and Peter Baran and his wife Nancy of Adams; one great-grandson, Ryan Baran of North Adams; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and John Netherwood, and by her sister, Doris Galipeau.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, at 11 a.m. in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Burial will follow.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church, PO Box 744, North Adams, MA 01247.
