Cecelia Pero Obituary
Cecelia M. Pero

1924 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Cecelia Irene Magdalenski Pero died Saturday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.

Cecelia was born in Old Forge, Pa., in 1924 to Martin and Mary Dombrowski Magdalenski. Her father passed away just before she was born, and Celia moved to Housatonic with her mother and siblings. She graduated from Searles High School in Great Barrington in 1942, and moved to Pittsfield.

She married Arthur Pero Jr. in 1944, while he was serving in the Army Air Force. They raised five devoted sons: Arthur III, James, Daniel, John, and Charles. Her husband died May 8, 2003.

While busy bringing up her children, Celia worked in the drafting department of General Electric Company, and for Berkshire Medical Center, retiring in 1986 as Admissions Supervisor.

In addition to her sons and their wives, Linda (John) and Diane (Charles), Celia leaves a legacy in her grandchildren, Erin, Arthur IV, Kim, Laurie, Rebecca, and Jaycee, and in her great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers, William (Bill), Bruno, and Stan; by her sisters, Blanche Laska and Stella Pero, and by daughters-in-law, Nancy and Cheryl Pero.

She is survived by her sister, Bertha LaFontana, sister-in-law, Alice, as well as her nieces and nephews, and long term friends.

Celia was a communicant of St. Charles Church. She was a compassionate woman who enjoyed helping others, as well as reading, knitting, gardening, bird-watching, baking, and preparing her family's favorite meals. As an avid Red Sox and Giants fan, she matched her husband's and sons' enthusiasm for sports.
