Joan Marie Fortin
1948 - 2013 NORTH ADAMS Joan Marie (Dupee) Fortin, 65, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Adams on April 5, 1948, daughter of the late Harold Dupee Sr. and Rita (Dargie) Dupee, she attended schools in Adams and graduated from Adams Memorial High School.
Joan, along with her husband Donald, was the owner and operator of Personal Touch Cleaning Company serving Northern Berkshire since 1986.
She was a dedicated and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Joan had a vivacious zest for life and her family was the center focus of it. She was well-known as a devoted Catholic and humanitarian for anyone in need. Joan spent time caring for her elderly father before his recent passing. She enjoyed trips to the beach and ocean at Ogunquit, Maine.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Joseph Fortin, whom she married July 6, 1974, in Cheshire; six children, Shelley Mannheim of North Adams, Lisa Cerveira and her husband, Jack, of Lanesborough, Donald Joseph Fortin Jr. of North Adams, Shari Langlois and her husband, Mark of North Adams, Michael Fortin and his wife, Tara, of Hinsdale and Jennifer Little of North Adams; 14 grandchildren, MacKenzie Boucher, Kayla and Elena Cerveira, Morgan Fortin, Mitchell and Alexx Langlois, Nicholas Jr., Michael and Mathew Fortin, and Connor, Abigail, Alexa and Emily Little; three brothers, Harold Dupee Jr. of Cheshire, David B. Dupee and Richard Dupee, both of North Adams; one sister, Sharon Krzanik of Adams. and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her father, Harold Dupee Sr., on April 21, 2013; her mother, Rita on Sept. 1, 2003, and by her grandson, Jacob Fortin, on June 27, 2010.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Joan Marie (Dupee) Fortin will be celebrated Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in the Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main Street, North Adams.
