George "Bill" Kirk

1925 - 2013 ADAMS George "Bill" Kirk, 88, of Adams, died Monday, April 29, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family, after a long determined battle with cancer.

He was born in Montgomery, N.Y., on March 9, 1925, son of Leslie Kirk and Marguerite (Pardee) Griswold Brown. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School. He also graduated from the former Bliss Business College in North Adams.

Mr. Kirk was an Army veteran of World War II, having served from 1943 until receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1946.

Mr. Kirk worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for many area businesses, the last being the former Scarfoni Ford, North Adams. He had also worked for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co.

He was a communicant of the Parish of Blessed John Paul. He was a member of the United States Association of Ballroom Dancers and had traveled extensively as a dance host on cruises all over the world. He enjoyed dancing, hiking, gardening, crafting, traveling, vacationing in New Hampshire and spending time with his grandsons and nieces and nephews.

His wife, the former M. Louise Franchomme, whom he married on May 21, 1949, died in 2002.

He is survived by, one daughter, Doreen Brandolini and her husband, John, of Sunapee, N.H.; one son, Paul Kirk of Malden; two grandsons, Kevin and Eric Brandolini of Sunapee; one sister, Orleta "Anita" Avery of Adams, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Burton and Richard Kirk.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Monday, May 6, at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of Blessed John Paul, McKinley Square, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests donations be made to the Appalachian Mountain Club Berkshire Chapter, 5 Joy Street, Boston, MA 02108
