John F. Rayner

1918 - 2013 PITTSFIELD John F. Rayner, 94, of Williams Street, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center.

John was born Dec. 7, 1918, in Pittsfield, the son of Arthur O. and Jean Ferguson Rayner. He graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1938.

John married the former Florence B. Scace at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 1945. He met Florence in 1944 when they were both working at Boston Auto Gage. They were both employed at General Electric; John was a draftsman for 35 years until his retirement.

He loved the outdoors and spent many years boating, camping and traveling around the country. After his retirement, he spent many winters traveling around Florida.

He was a member of the Immanuel Community Church Married Couples Club, a former commander of the Pittsfield Boating Club and the GE Pensioners Club.

John is survived by his two daughters, Bonnie Robert, and her husband, Andre, of Dalton, and Susan Uliasz, and her husband, Robert, of Pittsfield; grandchildren, Christopher John Robert and his wife, Johanna, of Billerica, Cynthia Ann Robert Pupo and her husband, Joseph, of Springfield, Pa., Brian Chester Uliasz and his significant other, Sarah Rennie, of Pittsfield and Steven John Uliasz and his wife, Hanni, of Hangzhou, China, and two great-grandsons, Ryan Joseph Pupo and Dylan Robert Pupo of Springfield, Pa., and many nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. John F. Rayner will be Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. John Cunningham, pastor of the Immanuel Community Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be the day of the service from 9 to 11 a.m.

Donations in John's memory may be made to the Immanuel Community Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
