Richard E. Noel

1938-2013 ADAMS Richard E. Noel, 75, of 21 1/2 Hoosac St., died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Adams on March 23, 1938, he was the son of the late Melvin W. and Blanche Gorczyka Noel. He attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School in 1955. In 1968 he became employed as a draftsmen for the General Ecectric Co. in Pittsfield, retiring in 1993. Prior to that he worked for the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for several yea.rs.

Dick was also a U.S Air Force Vietnam veteran serving at Dreux Air Force Base in France.

Dick was a communicant of the former Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams. He was a life member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Adams Lodge of Elks 1335, and a member of Adams Post 160 of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. Dick is survived by his wife, the former Fernande Marie Czapliki, whom he married in Paris, France on March 19, 1960; three nieces, Anna Diggens, Karen and Kathy Degere, and seven nephews, William and Richard Dotson, William Diggens, Dale, Dennis and Daren Noel, and David Degere.

He was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Noel, and two sisters, Elaine Skubel, Diane Degere.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Richard E. Noel will take place Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the TROTTER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in The Parish of Pope John Paul the Great in Adams celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Donations in his memory can be made to the Adams Ambulance Fund or VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
