William F. Loehr

1931 - 2013 PITTSFIELD William F. Loehr, 81, of 18 Baver Dr., formerly of Lenox Avenue, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 23, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 3, 1931, the son of Joseph F. and Katherine F. Gorman Loehr, he grew up on the family farm in Washington until moving to Pittsfield at the age of 13 and was a 1950 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Loehr was a Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Korean War. He entered the service in 1951 and was discharged in 1954 with the rank of Sergeant.

Bill raised his family on Lenox Avenue in Pittsfield where he lived for 44 years.

He worked as a milkman for 41 years, working at Crescent Creamery as a route supervisor for 27 years and then for H.P. Hood and Sons as a route coordinator for 14 years. He retired in 1995. After retirement, he held several part-time jobs, including working at Harry's Supermarket and The Dwyer Funeral Home.

Mr. Loehr was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He loved to golf and enjoyed watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He was a member of the VFW post 448.

He was a communicant of St. Charles Church for 54 years, where he volunteered for many church functions and also served as an usher.

Bill was predeceased by his first wife of 42 years, the former June R. Helliwell, whom he married Oct. 22, 1955, at St. Joseph's Church; she passed away on Aug. 8, 1998.

He leaves his wife, Beatrice "Betty" L. Quadrozzi Loehr, whom he married June 28, 2002 three children, William M. Loehr and his wife, Peg, of Pittsfield and their children, Mark W. and Timothy D. Loehr; Robert J. Loehr and his wife, Margaret, of Mason, Ohio, and their children, Christopher M., Matthew J., Kelly M., Kathryn E., Michael W. and Daniel R. Loehr; Kathleen E. Kinney and her husband, Daniel, of Lee, and their children, Matthew D. and Shaun W. Kinney; his stepchildren, Mark, Susan, Michael and Paul Quadrozzi, and their families; a brother-in-law, Bruce L. McKinney and his wife, Diane,of Venice, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his five older siblings, Lucille K. Connolly, Marion R. Dwyer, Helen E. Croughwell, Phyllis E. Ruesch and Joseph J. Loehr.

The family of Mr. Loehr would like to thank the wonderful people of Providence Care Center of Lenox and the many physicians who cared for him, namely Dr.s Henry Rose, Jack Ringler, Michael DeLeo, Daniel Kusick and Christopher Trancynger.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. William F. Loehr will be Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 10 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor of St. Mark Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m.
