Priscilla "Chris" Colburn
1932 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Priscilla "Chris" Ann Silvernail Colburn, 8O, passed away on May 22, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was courageous and brave and a fighter.
Priscilla had resided at Sweet Brook Nursing Facility for the last two years where she was well taken care of. The family is very grateful for the care she received while there. The staff of Sweet Brook are outstanding.
Priscilla was born May 31, 1932 to William H. and Muriel Hodgeman Silvernail in Pittsfield. Priscilla was a 1950 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She then attended the Berkshire Secretarial school.
After graduation, she worked at Berkshire Life for several years.
Priscilla married David H. Colburn on Jan. 3, 1953. Priscilla and David have three children, David, Lyla-Jean and Deborah.
Priscilla went back to work at South Congregational Church where she was secretary for almost 30 years.
She was involved in the several ladies groups, including Ladies Benevolent Society, where she helped to make quilts, the May Mattoon class and was part of the annual Bazaar, and in the Call to Care program at South Church.
Priscilla loved and collected Teddy Bears; she took classes on how to make her own. She always said that everyone should have a Teddy to hold; it makes all the hurts seem to fade away. Priscilla loved going for long drives with her husband, and grandchildren, visiting with friends and being part of South Church.
Priscilla is survived by her husband of 60 years, David H. Colburn; son, David, and his wife Salena, and their two children, Christopher and Amber of Seymour, Tenn.; daughter, Lyla-Jean Clapper and her husband, Thomas, and son, Andrew, of Pittsfield; daughter, Deborah Brazie and her children, Lynn Bull and Nathan Brazie, of Seymour, Tenn., and by several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She will be missed dearly.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Mrs. Priscilla "Chris" Silvernail Colburn will be Friday, May 31, 2013, at 1 p.m. at South Congregational Church with the Rev. Joel F. Huntington, pastor, officiating.
