1946-2013 PITTSFIELD Miss "Bonnie" M. Szymanski, 67, of 120 Seymour Street died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born on January 16, 1946 at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. Szymanski Sr. and the late Genevieve Olszak Szymanski.
A longtime Pittsfield resident, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1963 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School. She also studied music at Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan.
For many years she worked as a teller and in the Trust Dept. at the former Pittsfield National Bank and City Savings Bank. She had also worked in the ophthalmology office for the late Dr. Judson at one time. For the past thirteen years she had worked for Crossmark doing Grocery Store Merchandising. She retired in 2012.
She was a communicant of the former Holy Family Church where she was active in the choir and also played the organ. She was a former member of the Pittsfield 4th of July Parade Committee during the 1990's. She enjoyed cake decorating, baking, crafts, sewing and gardening. She especially enjoyed making elaborate wedding cakes and corsages.
She was looking forward to going on her upcoming Mississippi Riverboat Cruise.
She leaves her brother; Joseph J. Szymanski Jr. and his wife Jane of Walpole, MA, her sister; "Terrie" Therese Szymanski of Pittsfield, her uncle, John Szymanski of Adams and her aunt, Irene Golyzniak of Roanoke, Virginia. She also leaves her niece; Beth Knodler and her husband Michael of Belchertown, MA and her nephew; Michael Emery and his fiancee Sophie, of Sweden. Four great nieces; Morgan, Madison, Makayla and Taylah as well as two great nephews; Benjamin and Brady.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for "Bonnie" Szymanski, 67, of Pittsfield who died June 1, 2013 will be held Wednesday at 8:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Joseph Church celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
