1936-2013 LANESBOROUGH Mr. Gene F. Barnes, 76, of 19 National St., Lanesborough, died Tuesday afternoon at Springside of Pittsfield Health Care Center where he resided for the past Four Months.

Born in Pittsfield on August 31, 1936 he was the son of the late Walter W. and Anna Beaudoin Barnes Jr.

Mr. Barnes attended local schools and was a US Army Veteran serving in the Korean War.

He was employed as a heating and cooling technician for Lipton's Energy. He later founded his own heating and cooling business retiring in 1999. He later became employed at Newell Street Transmission.

He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed race cars and motorcycles. He had a passion for working on race cars and trucks.

He is survived by four sons Timothy Barnes of Pittsfield, Jason Barnes of Ashford, Conn., Karl Barnes of Pittsfield and Jeremy Barnes of Hancock, Mass. A daughter Buffy Palmer of Glen Burnie, Md. Five Grandchildren and two great -grandchildren.

He also leaves his long time companion Donna Turrell of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Mr. Gene F. Barnes , youngest of nine siblings died Tuesday June 25.

Funeral services will be Wednesday July 3 at 11 a.m. at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. A. peter Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery.

Calling hours will be at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME 776 North St. Pittsfield, MA on Tuesday July 2 from 4 to 7.
