1909-2013 Mrs. Flora A. Bertolino, 104, formerly of 234 Benedict Road, Pittsfield, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility, surrounded in the loving presence of her family.
She was born in Pittsfield on January 28, 1909 a daughter of the late Modesto and Emilia (Icardi) Masengo. She returned to Italy at the age of five years old and in 1924 moved back to Pittsfield. She attended schools in Italy and Pittsfield.
She was employed by the General Electric Company in building 32 for six years but most of her life was a homemaker. He enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and spending time with her family.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and had been a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was a member of the Golden Seniors.
She was the widow of Virginio Bertolino who died on September 21, 1997. They were married on August 12, 1930,
Survivors include two daughters, Thelma Venturini and her husband, Joseph, of Pittsfield and Judith Dunn of Manchester Center, Vermont; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Mozzi and Delia Carosso, and one brother, Raymond Masengo.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA. 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, July 10, from 4 to 6 p.m.
