Ruth Helen Hart

1920 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Ruth Helen Hart, 93, of 196 California Ave., died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at her home.

Born in Pittsfield on March 1, 1920, a daughter of Henry and Jeannette Avery Burke, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mrs. Hart was a homemaker. She had, at one time, worked as a home health aide.

She had a been a communicant of the former St. Francis Xavier Church and was a former member of the St. Agnes Rosary Sodality.

Mrs. Hart enjoyed being a mother and taking care of children. She was a Group Leader for Camp Fire Girls. She also enjoyed gardening.

Her husband, Martin J. Hart, whom she married Oct. 9, 1942, in St. Mary the Morning Star Church, died Dec. 27, 1972.

Mrs. Hart is survived by three sons, Robert M. Hart and his wife, Kathy, of Pittsfield, David M. Hart of Pittsfield, and Richard H. Hart and his wife, Kathy, of Mooresville, N.C.; four daughters, Nancy Jollimore and her husband, Ed of Florida, Mass., Marsha Sigler and her husband, Rollie, of Hagerstown, Md., Barbara Hart, who was her caregiver, of Pittsfield, and Mary Hart of North Adams; a sister, Ann Rockwell of Lenox; as well as 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two grandsons, Michael J. Hart and James J. Fitch, and by two sisters, Grace Farnum, late of Largo, Fla., and Jeanne Leffler, late of Sarasota, Fla.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for Ruth Helen Hart will be Friday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Those attending are invited to meet inside the Cemetery gate at 10:45. There will be no calling hours. The DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Women's Imaging Center at Berkshire Medical Center or Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
