Arthur William Brule

1930-2013 NORTH ADAMS Mr. Arthur William Brule, 83 of 104 Tremont St. North Adams, died Monday July 22, 2013 at Williamstown Commons surrounded by his loving family and in the arms of his loving wife.

He was born in North Adams, on July 6, 1930, son of Arthur N. and Edith (Rivers) Brule. He attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1949 where he was a member of the varsity football team and was named All-Western Mass in 1947 and 1948. He later played semi-pro football with the St. Anthony Crusaders.

Arthur was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Army.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Arthur was the Past Commander and member of both the Clarksburg and North Adams VFW and was a member of the American Legion in North Adams. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Arthur was active in the community as president of the McCann Booster Club. He was the founder of the Clarksburg-Stamford Youth Football team and coached for 29 years. He also served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader. In his younger years, he served on the Clarksburg School Committee and Recreation Committee, the McCann School Committee, and was a Clarksburg Selectman. Art was an avid sports enthusiast for the athletic teams at Drury High School and Williams College.

Survivors include his wife, the former Jeannette LaBombard, whom he married on May 3, 1952. Four daughters, Debra Bua and her husband, Richard and Doreen Descoteau and her husband John all of Clarksburg; Donna Brule-Denning, of North Adams; and Heidi Lennon and her husband, David of Adams. Five sons, Michael Brule and his wife, Linda of Newburyport, MA; William Brule and his wife, Allison of Westfield, MA; Thomas Brule and Robert Brule and his wife, Karen of Florida, MA; and Kurt Brule and his wife, Cynthia of Clarksburg. 18 Grandchildren and four Great Grandsons. He also leaves three sisters, Norma Cournoyer of the state of Florida, Janice Messier of Springfield; and Charron Capperella of Utica, NY; one brother- Wayne Brule of Richmond, VA and nieces and nephews.

His great granddaughter, Isabelle Maria Descoteau is deceased and a sister and a brother are deceased including Lorraine Raymond and Robert Brule.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Arthur Brule will be celebrated Thursday July 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be at a later date in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA are Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions are suggested for of Mass and NH or the Veterans Memorial Park of North Adams.
