Jane "Jean" McLagan
1921 - 2013 NORTH ADAMS Jane Lang "Jean" McLagan, 92, of 630 Barbour St., died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013 at North Adams Commons.
She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on Jan. 6, 1921, daughter of Charles and Ethel (Surr) McLagan. She attended schools in Clarksburg and graduated from the Bliss Business College.
Jane was a disabled veteran of World War II and served in the Navy.
She worked at the Kronick Insurance Agency and was last employed by Scarafoni Realty until her retirement.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. Jane was the past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Adams VFW and was a member and past president of the Friendly Circle. She was the last of her immediate family.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Robert C. Rivard, Craig W. Rivard, Jack B. Rivard. Mark D. Rivard, and Sandra L. Feder. She also leaves grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and grandnephews.
Her brother, Herbert McLagan died during World War II in Europe. Three sisters and one brother are also deceased, Ethel McLagan, Flora Rivard, Ada McLagan, and Thomas McLagan who died in infancy.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Jean McLagan will be Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. A calling hour at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
