Stephen A. Carr

1962-2013 PITTSFIELD Stephen A. "Chip" Carr, 51, of Lenox Avenue, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 following a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on May 17, 1962, he was the son of the late Charles and Judith White Carr Weslowski. Stephen grew up in Hinsdale and Lee was educated at Kittredge Elementary School in Hinsdale and Lee Schools. Stephen worked as a mechanic all his life, specializing in racecar engines in Florida. He was most recently employed by John's Automotive in Pittsfield, retiring due to poor health. Steve loved cars and animals, especially his cats Sheba and Mabel. He enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening, football, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his sisters, Cynthia L. Carr of Housatonic, and Shari Somerville, who was also his long time caregiver, of Lee. Stephen also leaves a son, Craig Mills of Pittsfield, and special friends Billy, Bob, Walter, Frank, John, Pam and Ken. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David H. Carr and grandmother Charlotte L. Clapper. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Stephen "Chip" Carr will be held Monday, September 16, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main Street, Lee, Mass. 01238. Following cremation, a memorial service and burial will be private for the family at a later date. Friends wishing may make memorial donations to the Berkshire Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
