Dr. Norman V. Bianco
1919-2013 NORTH ADAMS Dr. Norman V. Bianco, DDS, 94, of 130 Marion Ave.,North Adams, died Sunday September 22, 2013 at the North Adams Regional Hospital. He was the last member of the prominent Bianco family. He was born in North Adams on August 19, 1919 a son of the late John and Rose (Sbarbaro) Bianco. He graduated from Drury High with the class of 1937. He then attended Villanova University and graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.S. degree in 1942. In 1945 Dr. Bianco graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School with a degree in dental surgery. While in dental schools he served as a private first class with the United States Army. He was commissioned as a lieutenant with the United States Navy Dental Corp. from 1945 to 1947. He returned to North Adams after his military career and opened his practice of family dentistry retiring in 1987 after 41 years of service to the community. He was a member of the American Dental Society, Massachusetts Dental Society and the Berkshire County Dental Society. He was a member of the McCann High School Committee and was a founding member of the of the dental assistance program. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and was a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Building Committee which was responsible for the building the present church. Dr. Bianco was a member the North Adams American Legion, North Adams Elks Club and Lions club where he served as past president. He was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Taconic Golf Club. He was also a member of the North Adams Country Club. His wife Lorena (Picker) Bianco whom he married Oct. 6, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland died June 5, 2011. Survivors include one son Dr. James M. Bianco MD and his wife Martha of Hollis, N.H. and three daughters Rosemary Bianco of Mystic, Conn., Patricia Willette and her husband David of North Adams and Linda Williams and her husband Richard of Clarksburg. Dr. Bianco was also survived by five loving grandsons, Ross R. Williams of New York City, Nathaniel D. Willette of Missoula, Mont., Griffin D. Willette of North Adams and Michael P. and John J. Bianco of Hollis, N.H. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Sean B. Williams. He also was predeceased by two sisters, Rita Sharron and Dolores O'Neil; and six brothers, Philip Bianco, William Bianco, Joseph Bianco, Ernest Bianco, Lionel Bianco and Dr. Harvey Bianco. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Dr. Norman Bianco will be Friday September 27, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to Sean B.
