Donald E. Barcomb

1937-2013 ADAMS Donald E. Barcomb, 76, of 27 Upton St., died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Berkshire medical center in Pittsfield. Born in North Adams on June 2, 1937, son of the late Henry A. and Jessie Czarnecki Barcomb, he attended North Adams schools and was a graduate of Drury High School. Donald was a long time insurance agent for the Prudential Insurance Co., retiring in 1992. He was also an Air Force Korean War veteran, and was stationed in Iwo Jima. Donald was a very active member and life member of the Adams Lodge of Elks, where he served as treasurer for 30 years, during which he receive his Fifty year membership pin. He was also a long time scout leader for Troop 31 in Cheshire. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trips to the casino's. Donald is survived by his wife, the former JoAnne Dapper, whom he married on May 5, 1990. A son, Dean Barcomb and his wife Karen Peckham of North Haven, CT., three daughters, Linda A. Barcomb of Saratoga, California, Diane Decensi and her husband Robert of Guilford, CT., Marty Mair and her husband Gary of Lee Summit, Missouri. A brother, Albert Barcomb and his wife Claire of North Adams. a stepson, John Beckwith and his wife Pearllena of Hillsborough, NC. Two stepdaughters, Peggy Weslowski and her husband Michael of Adams, Karen Carver and her husband George of Tucson, Arizona, twenty one grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Barcomb. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Donald E. Barcomb will take place Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 10 AM in the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, with the Rev. Donald Gray, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Adams, officiating, burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
