Charles M. "Chuck" Goddard

BRIMFIELD Charles M. "Chuck" Goddard, 82, of Colonial Park, died Wednesday, Jan. 22nd, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Phyllis L. (Briggs) Goddard; his son, Warren M. Goddard and his wife Patricia of Southbridge; and two grandchildren, Craig Goddard and Jennifer Goddard both of Southbridge. He was predeceased by a son, Charles M. Goddard. He was born in Natick the son of Herbert and Rose (Mann) Goddard. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War era. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston and also attended Boston College. Chuck was a research chemist and worked for the US Army Labs in Natick for over 25 years. He later worked for Watertown Arsenal and then as a chemist for the Town of Pittsfield in their Water Treatment Plant before retiring several years ago. While working at the Natick Labs he received a metal from the US Army for Meritorious Civilian Service for saving the life of a co-worker from a fire in the lab. Chuck enjoyed fishing and playing the organ for his church. A graveside service in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.
