Sally Littenberg Galler

1918-2014 Sally Littenberg Galler, 96, died peacefully in her sleep on February 5 at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Jack Galler and her dear sisters, Ida Littenberg, Lillian Meyerson, and Belle Chipkin Nagel, and niece Barbara Meyerson. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. of immigrants Isaac and Rose Littenberg on January 16, 1918, Sally was always a fun-loving and people-loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her attributes included authenticity, thankfulness, diligence, generosity and intuitiveness. She was a word-game and Mah Jongg champion. She always tried her best and had high standards of honesty. Her smile was irresistible. As a home-maker and bookkeeper, Sally was meticulous. She loved singing, dancing, fresh air and had a quick, spunky gait. Sally and Jack always gathered the extended family every year for a joyous Passover, back in Brooklyn, later in Queens. They spent winters in Boca Raton in their later years. Sally leaves her older daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Elie Hammerling of Pittsfield and her younger daughter, Lynda Galler of Atlanta, Georgia; her grandson Eric Hammerling (Andrea) and great grandson Mateo; her granddaughter Jaimie Hammerling Bern (Rick) and great grandsons Zachary and Ari; her nieces "Chip" Mayer (Jack), Sheila Wolfson (Mel), Sonj Marquardt (Wolfie), Marcia Sparrow (Bob), Eleanor Lewart, Joyce Rubenstein and nephews Ron Glotzer (Joyce) and Robert Beerman. Her remaining sibling, William Littenberg resides in California with his wife (Doris), their three children and their respective families. Sally's entire family deeply appreciates the love and respectful care she received at Kimball Farm Nursing Care Center. The staff's cheerfulness and communication skills created a wonderful atmosphere for Sally's last years.
