1951 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Pastor William "Bill" Henry Havens, 62, of Woodleigh Road, passed away Feb. 13, 2014, at his home, after a 6 1/2 year battle with cancer. Born March 26, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, he was the son of Henry and Phyllis Collier Havens and attended schools in Texas, graduating from Arlington High School in 1969. Bill attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, graduating in 1973. He came to Pittsfield in 1976 and founded the Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he has been the pastor until the time of his death. Bill enjoyed playing golf and sailing. He is survived by his wife, the former Pamela Sue Washburn, whom he married Aug. 10, 1970; two daughters, Lauri Byrnes and husband, Andy, of Lanesboro, Holli Jayko and husband, Tony, of Pittsfield; a son, Bobby Havens and wife, Glenna, of Pittsfield, and 10 grandchildren, Kyle, Marlana, Jacqi, Hannah, Holli, Olivia, Audrey, Lillian, Booker and Henry. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Pastor Bill will be held at New Life Community Fellowship, 172 Hubbard Ave., Pittsfield, Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at 1 p.m., a reception will follow in Fellowship hall. Pastor Dayton Burt, from Berkley Mass., will officiate. Burial will be private in North Adams. Calling hours will be Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, from 4 to 6 p.m., at 895 W. Housatonic St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Donations, in his memory, can be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church for Pastor Bill's favorite mission projects.
