1930-2014 PITTSFIELD Paul Marino, 83, formerly of Pittsfield passed on to eternal life with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Fort Myers, Florida. Paul was born in Pittsfield on June 15, 1930, the son of the late Leonard and Antoinette (Bove) Marino. He graduated from Pittsfield High School earning a music scholarship. Following graduation from high school Paul worked at the General Electric Company in the Power Transformer and Ordnance divisions in Pittsfield before joining the U.S. Army where he completed a tour of duty in Wiesbaden, Germany. After discharge from the Army music continued to be an integral part of his life and he became very popular in the Berkshires as a singer of classical and religious music, gave many well-received concerts in the area and performed at Tanglewood. He was a member of the Christian Assembly Church and was a violinist in the Christian Assembly orchestra, later becoming their choir director. Paul's love of music relocated him to Florida where he graduated from the University of Miami leading him to a career as a teacher of music at Cutler Ridge Junior High School. He continued to be a featured singer at many churches in Florida, Coral Gables, Palm City and Shell Point Retirement Community. His most well-received religious selections were featured on a recorded disc including "He Smiled on Me", "Bless This House", "The Holy City" and "The Lord's Prayer" and he was honored to be asked to sing the National Anthem at an opening game of the Miami Dolphins. Paul and his beloved wife shared together a love for opera and classical music and were avid world travelers visiting many friends and relatives along the way,. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Lois Totaro Marino; two sisters, Adeline (Andrew) Scaduto of Eldorado Hills, Calif. and Martha (Raffaele) Frieri of Pittsfield, and a brother, Leonard R. Marino of Pittsfield, as well as several nieces and nephews. His songs of faith in God live on in the hearts of many. His funeral was held in Fort Myers, Florida on February 15, 2014.
