John N. Raby
1946 - 2014 WILLIAMSTOWN John Noel Raby, 67, of Smith Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in North Adams on Dec. 25, 1946, a son of the late John B. and Alice McCarble Raby. He attended schools in Williamstown and graduated from St. Joseph High School in North Adams. He also graduated from Miss Farmers School of Culinary. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the Army. He was employed at Williams College in the dining service deptartment and later was head chef at the Rosarian Academy in Florida. He was a member and past commander of the Williamstown American Legion and was a member of the Greylock Community Club. His wife, Cynthia Cunningham Raby, whom he married in April of 1989, died Jan. 27, 2012. Survivors include two stepsons, Corey Fortin and his wife, Heather, of North Adams, and Chris Fortin of Williamstown; two sisters, Margaret J. Rewa of Gill, Mass., and Denise Raby Simon of Adams; a grandson, Kyle Rolland of North Adams, and seven nieces. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will take place Friday at 7 p.m., at the FLYNN DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA. Calling hours are Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial, with military honors, will take place in the spring. Memorial donations are suggested for the Williamstown American Legion through the funeral home.
