Lawrence E. Moreau
1928-2014 NORTH ADAMS Lawrence Edward Moreau 85, of Londonderry, N.H. and formerly of North Adams, and Lowell died Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born in North Adams on October 5, 1928, a son of the late Leo Arthur Moreau Sr. and Alvina Maude (Landry) Moreau. He graduated from Drury High School and Bentley University. Mr. Moreau was decorated veteran of the United States Army during World War II serving as a T-5. He was employed at the Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams as a manager of purchasing and corporate contracts. He then was employed at Torque Systems, Inc. Division of EG&G in Waltham serving as the director of materials. Mr. Moreau was last employed as an insurance and stock advisor at the Prudential Insurance Company in Chelmsford. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and golf. While a resident of North Adams he was a member of the City Council and a Fourth Degree Knight in the local Knight of Columbus. He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine (Rivers) Moreau whom he married in 1950. Survivors include his children Eileen Chabot and her husband John of Montgomery, Ill., Edward Moreau and his wife Barbara of Northfield, Mass.. and Jane Aubrey and her husband Christopher of Londonderry, N.H.; as well as five grandchildren, Lynne and Adam Chabot, Matthew, Nicole and Jason Aubrey and three great-grandchildren Jack, Ben and Emma Chabot. He is also survived by two brothers, Leo Moreau of Conway, S.C. and Richard Moreau of Clarksburg. He was predeceased by a brother, Norman, also of North Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Lawrence E. Moreau will be celebrated Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
