John J. Lennon

1946 - 2014 ADAMS John J. "Jack" Lennon, 67, of 10 Crandall St., died on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at North Adams Commons. Jack was born in Adams on July 25, 1946, a son of the late David and Margaret Moriarty Lennon. He attended Adams schools. As a young man, Jack worked for the Rowley Fuel Co. in Adams and the Town of Adams Parks Department. In 1971, he was hired as one of the first Campus Police officers for the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, where he retired in 2002 with 30 years of service. He was a communicant of the Parish of Blessed John Paul in Adams. Jack was well known throughout the town of Adams having served on several various boards including the Cemetery Commission, the Adams Democratic Committee and the Memorial Day Parade Committee. He was a former Town Meeting Member and Constable. He, along with his friend Anthony McBride, were instrumental in the placing of the American flags in the towns business districts. He was a member of the Adams Lodge of Elks. Jack was elected to the Alert Hose Company on Feb. 4, 1969, and remained an active member until Dec. 4, 1984, becoming an honorary member. He is survived by two brothers, David Lennon and his wife, Patricia, of Cheshire, and Paul Lennon and his wife, Ruth, of Adams; a nephew, David Lennon and his wife, Heidi, of Adams; two nieces, Debra Lennon of Texas and Bonnie Lennon of Adams; many grandnieces grandnephews, and by his close friends and extended family, Ronald and Susan Davenport of Adams. He was predeceased by his nephew, Daniel Lennon. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be on Saturday, March 29, at 8 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. John Gawienowski. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
