Earle L. Parmenter

1923-2014 NORTH ADAMS Earle L. Parmenter, 90, of Nutter Fort, West Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Bridgeport. He was born in Leyden, Mass. on October 7, 1923 and was preceded in death by his first wife, Aline; his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Parmenter of Clarksburg, Mass.; one sister, Marjorie Benoit of Clarksburg; four brothers, Earnest and Edward of Clarksburg, Ralph of Oxford, Mass., and Richard of New Bedford, Mass. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sisters, Shirley Bombardier of Stephens City, Va. and Ruth Mulcahy of North Adams. He leaves one son, Dennis Parmenter of Colonial Heights, Va.; one daughter, Candace Dowell of Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Cutright, Scott Chenoweth, Jillana Chenoweth and Julie Donaldson; two great-grandchildren and numerous stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step great -grandchildren. After graduating from school, Mr. Parmenter served in World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations and was honorably discharged with the rank of T/SGT serving as the Group Sergeant Major for the 90th Bombardment Group. He later completed General Electrics Business Training and Professional Business Management Programs and worked many years with them in various financial capacities. He was a retiree from General Electric and from Ingrsoll Rand Company where he was the Plant Controller in the Clarksburg plant. He was also a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport. Family and friends will be received at BURNSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport. West Virginia on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Catholic Funeral Rites will be conducted on Saturday at the funeral home at 12 noon with Father Benedict Kapa as Celebrant with Reverend Sam O. Cale, III assisting. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
