1940-2014 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Eileen Mary Barbeau Dargie, 74, of 3 Holbrook St. North Adams, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at her home. She was born in North Adams, MA on January 11, 1940, daughter of Ernest and Rose Vaughn Barbeau. She graduated from the Drury High School and attended nursing school to become a licensed practical nurse. Eileen worked as a nurse at the former Homestead Rest Home, which was a family-run business. After it closed, she worked as a nurse at the Brien Center. She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church. Eileen enjoyed trips to the casino and tag sales. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She was the widow of Arthur P. "Bid" Dargie who died on July 25, 1999. They were married on October 22, 1960. Survivors include two sons, Arthur P. Dargie Jr. and Keith J. Dargie, both of North Adams; four grandchildren, Katelyn Dargie, Matthew Dargie, Travis Dargie, and Keegan Dargie; one great- grandson, Riley Dargie. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Six brothers and sisters are deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Eileen Dargie will be celebrated Friday, June 20, 2014 at 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
